D’Andrea & Partners Recognized in “Deals of the Year 2024” by CBLJ

China Business Law Journal annually selects and highlights the most significant legal matters involving Chinese parties or interests, based on criteria such as complexity, scale, legal innovation, and market relevance. The “China Deals of the Year” awards are considered among the most authoritative recognitions for outstanding legal work involving China-related transactions and disputes. As part of the 2024 edition, D’Andrea & Partners Legal Counsel has been recognized for its role in a high-value cross-border enforcement case in connection with its representation of one of the largest state-owned Chinese banks before the Appeal Court of Milan. The matter involved the recognition and enforcement in Italy of a judgment issued by the High Court of the Hong Kong SAR. Following recognition, the debtor was ordered to repay an amount exceeding EUR 325 million in Italy. The case presented a number of legal and procedural complexities, particularly regarding the debtor’s lack of an established residence in Italy and the related requirements for effective service of process. These issues were carefully examined and addressed by the Court, which upheld the legitimacy of the Hong Kong proceedings and the enforceability of the resulting judgment. The recognition of foreign judgment represents a significant outcome in the context of cross-border enforcement.
