Who we are

D’Andrea & Partners Legal Counsel advises international clients on cross-border M&A, foreign direct investment, commercial contracts, corporate compliance, employment and labor law, intellectual property, litigation and arbitration, cybersecurity and data compliance, and bankruptcy and restructuring. The firm works from two headquarters — Milan for Europe and Shanghai for Asia-Pacific — with offices across major cities in China, Hong Kong (PRC), Italy, India, Vietnam, and the UAE, and a Russian-speaking desk.

Ministry of Justice Authorization

D’Andrea & Partners is one of the few international law firms authorized by the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China to operate a representative office in mainland China. In practice, this means clients are served directly on the ground, under Chinese regulatory supervision, with Chinese-law matters handled alongside PRC-qualified lawyers with whom we have a partnership locally.

Our Founders

D’Andrea & Partners was founded in 2004 by Carlo Diego D’Andrea and Matteo Hanbin Zhi. Carlo D’Andrea, a member of the Italian Bar, has been based in China since 2005; Matteo Hanbin Zhi is among the first Italian-speaking Chinese lawyers.

Our Team

The firm has operated continuously since 2004 and today brings together more than 50 professionals across offices in 10 cities worldwide. Its lawyers are qualified in the jurisdictions where they advise — qualified lawyers work from the firm’s own offices, alongside colleagues admitted in other jurisdictions — and the team works in English, Italian, Chinese, French, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Russian, among other languages.
