D’Andrea & Partners Collaborated on the 14th Moot Shanghai
From March 4 to March 7, 2024, the 14th “Moot Shanghai” (Shanghai Invitational Competition of International Commercial Mock Arbitration Tribunal) was held offline. The competition is organized by East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) and Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (SHUPL), and it is co-organized by Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SHAC) and Shanghai International Arbitration Centre (SHIAC). The competition is supported by UNCITRAL Regional Centre of Asia and the Pacific, Shanghai Bar Association (SHBA), Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), Moot Alumni Association (MAA), ICC International Court of Arbitration (ICC), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), Wolters Kluwer.
As the Collaborating Partner of the competition, three senior lawyers Riccardo Verzella, Charles Xu and Aris Xie from D’Andrea & Partners Legal Counsel participated in the general rounds, the quarter-finals and semifinals as the Guest Arbitrator, also invited to attend the closing ceremony. The lawyers commented and scored the oralists’ mastery of the details of the case their ability to react on the spot and the on-site cooperation of the participating teams.
Moot Shanghai launched in 2011, is a pre-moot of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. In the previous annuals, over 1000 law students from more than 22 jurisdictions acted as party representatives in more than 500 mooting rounds. More than 600 practising arbitrators, lawyers and other legal professionals from both common law and civil law countries worked together as guest arbitrators.
