Introduction
Nanjing is the capital city of China’s Jiangsu Province, and the second largest city in eastern China after Shanghai (with a population of over nine million people). It served as the national capital for numerous centuries and is considered one of the four ancient capitals in Chinese dynastic history. Nanjing is also one of China’s fifteen sub-provincial cities, located in the Yangtze River Delta region, one of the most important supercity clusters in China.
