On June 2, 2017, Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing held a reception to celebrate the National Day of Italy. Zhang Ling, Vice-Chairman of the Chongqing Municipal Political Consultative Conference, and Sergio Maffettone, Consul General of Italy in Chongqing, addressed together on the reception and expressed appreciation to increase cultural exchanges between Chongqing and Italy.

A “Great Industrial Game”-themed Italian Industrial Design Exposition has been held in Chongqing Science Museum from May 12 to July 12, 2017. Co-sponsored by Italy’s consulate general to Chongqing and Chongqing Technology Association, it covers various domains, such as Italian culture and its industrial history and value. Enterprises participating in this exposition are also from a number of fields, including food, textile, automobile and motorcycle, furniture and manufacturing, which fully reflect the notion of “Made in Italy”.

On May 15, Bishan District Government announced the latest development of “New Sino-Italy Industrial Park” whose implementation scheme is on the way. To establish this park, Bishan District Government has set aside a plot of construction land that covers an area of about 10 square kilometers in the high-tech zone. “Sino-Italy Institute of Innovation Industries” was founded before June, with a number of fields included, such as virtual reality, biomedical treatment and life science. At the meantime, facilitated by the international exchanges platform jointly built by China and Italy, Chongqing University will recruit some 70 overseas students from 23 countries to participate in the practice program.

 Statistics from Italy suggests that, by the end of last year, a total number of 37 Italian enterprises had invested in Chongqing in various fields, such as manufacturing, wholesale and retail industries.
